IF YOU THINK NICOTINE REPLACEMENT (NRT) IS SAFE - THEN THINK AGAIN: NICOTINE REPLACEMENT AND THE PROMOTION OF CANCER CELLS

Cholinergic receptors are found in both nerve cells, and non-nerve cells (such as those in the lungs). Critically, if nicotine fuses with cholinergic receptors on the surfaces of lung cancer cells, they are nourished to go on to divide and spread. (There is a profound impact of this scenario on non-small cell lung cancer cells).

Nicotine replacement therapy products (NRT) contain nicotine and raise nicotine levels in the blood - this can make it harder to quit. When these products are used over a long period, they may actually encourage the formation of new nicotine-cholinergic receptors.

NICOTINE REPLACEMENT THERAPY PRODUCTS AND THE POSSIBLE LINK WITH THE PROMOTION OF CANCER CELLS THROUGH ANGIOGENESIS (NEW BLOOD VESSEL DEVELOPMENT) CANCER DEVELOPMENT

Nicotine has been linked to cancer in various ways, and at the present time, there is a debate as to whether nicotine acts as a tumour promoter. Long term use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) patches and other NRT products may, (according to a number of research studies on animals), promote cancer through new blood vessel development (angiogenesis).

‘Angiogenesis performs a critical role in the development of cancer. Solid tumours smaller than 1 to 2 cubic mm are not vascularized [not supplied with blood vessels]. To spread, they need to be supplied by blood vessels that bring oxygen and nutrients and remove metabolic wastes’

NICOTINE REPLACEMENT PRODUCTS AND MATERNAL SMOKING
‘We have found distinct links between cigarette smoking or even using nicotine patches or gum and the long-term harm for the child’

The contraindications, warnings and precautions linked to NRT also make frightening reading:

You may now be asking yourself why after all these years, most of the general public are not aware of these dangers; and why there is so little research on long-term use of all the various forms of NRT. - The answer could lie in the same reason why the dangerous effects of smoking are still taking so long to reach everyone. Large brand names are incidentally, manufactured by ‘Big Pharma’ who are geared to make billions of dollars with these products, and as you can probably guess - the nicotine used is from the same tobacco plants as cigarettes.  NRT does not form part of the protocol in "The Winning Way to Quit Smoking"
